The Drum & Bass Thread (formally Drum 'n' Bass is dead?)
Posted on: 19.08.2008 by Random X
Every now and than, a musical genres foremost poet or pioneer will come forth claiming the style is dead.

We've already seen it in punk, hip hop, metal, rock and opera already.

Stupidest thing even, that this seems to be some kind of "retro- cycle" that passes along every decade.

With the coming of styles like dubstep amongst others, purists are really keen on claiming that these styles are no derative or subgenre of our beloved DnB.
Better yet, they utter the words "DnB is dead!"

If your own creative impulses can't cope with a style any longer, why claim it is dead in the first place? Couldn't it just evolve into other (sub)styles?
No, kill your idols instead!
There seems to be no better way to start something new, than completely destroy any relations with the past.

How can a genre with high BPM rates be dead, while comparing it to the ever so low BPM rates of the ever so vivid dubstep?
Ofcourse, BPM rates are not a factor in this case, but people listening and enjoying DnB are.
There are still heaps and heaps of bass-heads still jumping their shoes to the sounds of d&b pioneers as Krush, Bukem, Dom & Roland and all others still producing.

Agreed that the old spirit needs to be revived. Still, it's no reason to don the old lass after that much joy she has given us.

Drum and Bass is dead? It seems ever so vibrant as it was in 1996!

Haha, nice one, that's awesome. Yeah he actually just posted up "I heard there's a remix coming up" or something to that extent on 404Audio, so yeah, he's gonna be remixing Response, which is killer, stoked to be working with him

Gotta come up that way some time and party with you guys! Hope to be able to come up that way one of these days and drop some Ammunition on you all

I heard Skyline will be on some special EP, they (C&K) didn't say which... it's a surprise.
-EDIT: OHOHOOOOO skyline is actualy out now: Edge Of Mind EP Beta Recordings 2010

Artist: Camo & Krooked and John B
Label: Beta Recordings
Catalog: BETA21W
Format: Vinyl, 12"
Country: UK
Released: 18.01.2010
Tracks: 4

Tracklist :

1. Camo & Krooked - Time Is Ticking Away (feat Shaz Sparks)
2. Camo & Krooked - Mindset
3. Camo & Krooked - Skyline
4. John B - Numbers (Camo & Krooked Remix)

On the other note, i have this tune inside my head. It's deepish track and it is all over the place on Bassdrive.com DnB radio and such. It's little bit wobbly and it has distinctive voice sample which says just: "mentaly strong" and for the life of me i can't remember the Title and Artist, i know it is somewhere in my collection but cannot find it. pls help

Love it! At least the first half and the last track. I like my heavy liquid D&B. The other half doesnt really float my boat. The changing in tempo of a few tracks is interesting but not something i'd want to gig with.
I was also dissapointed that Skyline wasnt on this album, i havent been able to find that track at all. Anyone got any ideas where i can find it?

Anyway, new blood album from hospital is out at the beginning of march, that should prove interesting.

Im really looking forward to sick music 2 aswell, im hoping some of the tracks from the hospital mix 8 mix track will be on there, some lovely grooves on that one

Phace & Misanthrop bring the justice. Noisias new bizzo is heat. Got 16bit in under a week and then I'm running Xample & Lomax, should be masssssiv. So on that note a huge wobble monster of a tune by those boys.:

dnb aint neva gunna die. the scene is still pretty big in atlanta and while dubstep is becoming more commercial the dnb genre is going more traditional around here.
